PADI Skin Diver

The PADI Skin Diver Course is typically a half-day program that teaches you to do breath-hold diving while snorkelling. After taking this course, you will be able to safely observe the underwater water life up close in short periods without having to use scuba equipment.

This course is perfect for those who want to go beyond snorkelling on the surface and discover what lies deeper without using scuba equipment.

To be eligible in enrolling for the PADI Skin Diver Course, you do not need to have prior experience in diving.

You just need the following pre-requisites:

  • Between 8-80 years of age;
  • Good medical health record with no adverse reactions; and
  • Satisfactory swimming skills and comfort in the water.

The PADI Skin Diver Course focuses on both knowledge and skills development that will help ensure you will make safe, confident, and enjoyable short visits beyond the surface of the sea through breath-hold diving.

The course will teach you the following:

  • Effortless, easy, and safe ascent and descent underwater in one breathe;
  • Swim 50 feet (15metres) underwater;
  • Surface swimming and checking your buoyancy;
  • Clearing your snorkel;
  • Fundamental safety procedures in the water;
  • Tips in choosing, adjusting, and using equipment for skin diving; and
  • Basic hand signal communication at the surface and underwater.

There is no eLearning requirement for the PADI Skin Diver Course.

Unlike scuba diving where you need to use regulators and tanks to help you breathe, equipment for skin-diving is much simpler.

The equipment you will use includes:

  • Mask, snorkel and fins;
  • Buoyancy device (if required);
  • When necessary, a wet suit and dive weights.

What’s included in the course fee?

  • Hire of full equipment
  • All supervision/training
  • PADI Certification Fees

For a small donation, we can take some underwater photos of the experience for you to keep – All donations go to the Project Aware Foundation who help to protect and safeguard our oceans.
