Cave & Overhead Diver Training

All of our cave and overhead training is conducted and certified through TDI. We are able to offer the full range of TDI overhead courses and specialities.

The core TDI overhead training courses are; Cavern Diver, Intro to Cave Diver and Full Cave Diver. Each can be conducted in either open and/or closed circuit. After this come the overhead specialities; Advanced Wreck, Diver Propulsion Vehicle, Mine, Cave Survey, Stage Cave and Cave DPV. Additionally there is also the option of a Cavern Experience, which is not a course but offers a taster of cavern diving.

Due to the cross over off skills, shared information and learning. And also being more time/financially effective. We recommend bundling the following courses as part of your training plan. You can later add additional specialties as you progress in your overhead training and gain more experience.

  • Bundle 1 – Cavern Diver & Intro to Cave Diver
  • Bundle 2 – Full Cave Diver & Stage Cave Diver

Course Locations

We primarily run our cave training courses in Spain, France and the UK. However, if you have a particular location in mind, such as Mexico or Sardina. Simply get in touch and we can work together to arrange something with you.

Cave Diver Training in Spain

Near Barcelona we can use the sea caves in L’escala for cavern training and Font De Bordonera for cave training. Further south in Cartagena, we can train in Cueva Del Agua, CT-12 and Cueva del Moraig.

Additional Information

Some General Do's & Don'ts

  • You should consider your cave/overhead training as a logical journey, passing each step sequentially.
  • Never skip training levels or bypass the value of building up in water experience.
  • Always obtain accredited training from a trusted and recognised training agency before diving in overhead environments.
  • Do not enter overhead environments without the proper training and equipment.
  • Use well maintained and regularly serviced equipment. And ensure it is the right equipment for the task in hand.
  • Never dive on single cylinders, you should always have redundancy. Never dive with faulty or poorly maintained equipment.
  • Try to dive with others at a similar level in their training and experience. Never push past your personal limits!
  • Never make trust me dives. And never exceed the limitations of your current training certification.

Before Your Overhead Training Course

  • Look at the course standards; and identify any skills gaps or development areas you may have. Take the time to work on these before the course starts. That way, we get to spend the time developing your cave diving skills rather than doing remedial basic dive skills.
  • Look in the course standards; and check you have the required equipment for your course. Identify any shortfall and obtain where appropriate. If you are having any difficulty with this we may be able to help given some advance notice.
  • Complete the eLearning and/or any course pre reading PRIOR to the course start date. Failure to do so may result in the course taking longer.
  • 5 P’s – Planning & Preparation Prevents Poor Performance! Make sure all your equipment is in service and check it is fully functional, with no leaks, rips or tears etc. If the equipment is new, go and get some dives in it before the course if possible, it will help if your are comfortable in your equipment.
  • Ensure your system is configured to DIR standards. It does not have to be exact but the common theme should be followed.
